Arunachal Pradesh Officer to Command Frontline Warship

An officer named Ronie Chowpoo from Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh has broken new ground by becoming the first officer from Arunachal Pradesh to take command of a frontline warship in the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy

An officer named Ronie Chowpoo from Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh has broken new ground by becoming the first officer from Arunachal Pradesh to take command of a frontline warship in the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy. The fleet, known as the Sunrise Fleet, has carried out several historic operations. Commander Chowpoo studied at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun. He became part of the Indian Navy’s executive branch in the year 2008. He has worked in various capacities in institutions such as the fleet headquarters and the naval headquarters during his career. His experience includes serving on frigates (ships used for anti-submarine warfare and air defence and to escort larger ships like aircraft carriers and tankers) and other warships.
