A Paris-based fashion brand called Coperni revealed a bag made out of air at the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week in March. Called the ‘Air Swipe Bag’, this bag was made by Ioannis Michaloudis, a Greece-based researcher and visual artist, using silica aerogel. Silica aerogel is an extremely light, solid substance developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to collect stardust and is capable of carrying 4,000 times its weight. 1% of the bag is made of silica aerogel and the remaining 99% is just air!
