948 heritage trees will be beautified by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government under the Heritage Tree Adoption Scheme. The Uttar Pradesh State Diversity Board designated 28 tree species that are more than a century old as ‘heritage trees’ including tamarind, peepal, banyan, mango and sal. These trees are spread across all of UP’s districts. The government is attempting to raise awareness about these trees and seeks the support of the public to protect and conserve them.
