CG Salamander on Writing Graphic Novels

What began as a simple one-page comic for a children’s magazine soon transformed into something far more alive. ‘Maithili and the Minotaur’, created by writer and illustrator duo CG Salamander and Rajiv Eipe, was meant to be light and funny—just a quick laugh in the style of Calvin and Hobbes or Garfield. But somewhere between the scribbled sketches and the quiet questions, something shifted. The characters began to grow. The world began to breathe. And a comic strip became a living, evolving story with its own voice—one that surprised even its creators.
