A study has found that human activities have led the Earth to experience a ‘haze season’ and a ‘trash season’, new seasons that are disturbing ecological cycles. Forest fires and deliberate fires related to agricultural activities have led to a ‘haze season’ in certain parts of the world, including Southeast Asia. During this season, certain regions are affected by a layer of dense smoke and contaminants. In addition to this, a ‘trash season’ has arisen in some places, including Bali, during which man-made waste, including plastic, is transported to beaches by ocean currents.
