Dr R Hemalatha is the director of the National Institute of Nutrition. She has been researching nutrition, infection and the gut microbiome with a focus on women’s and children’s health and nutrition. She has spearheaded several community-based interventions and clinical studies. She has also served as an expert member of committees of the central and state governments, including the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses.
