Friendship

Debangshi Chakraborty, Class 11, Saint Francis De Sales School, Narengi, Guwahati

Friendship. What exactly is it? Is it just a relation between two people or a platonic bond between two souls? The word is so simple, yet it holds a deep meaning to those who know how to cherish it. It is a very beautiful word, more beautiful than love, I believe. It is a relationship between two or more people, or rather, should I say souls?

This word itself brings a sense of calm and peacefulness. It reminds me of fall when trees shed their leaves and winter is around the corner, of spring when the flowers bloom and the paddy fields are ready for cultivation, of winter when the landscape is covered in an ethereal white or when the weather is chilly and cold. It gives me the feeling of running through a vast field of numerous flowers during spring.

It reminds me of the snow-capped mountains and a picturesque painting of nature. The beauty of this relationship is that it is often quiet, not loud, and when it breaks, it hurts more than a breakup. A person who finds true friendship is luckier than the person who has found true love.
