Government Launches Mascot for the Environment

A mascot called Prakriti was launched by Bhupender Yadav, union minister of environment, forest and climate change.

A mascot called Prakriti was launched by Bhupender Yadav, union minister of environment, forest and climate change, to spread awareness among citizens about the changes that need to be adopted to reduce the use of plastic. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Central Pollution Control Board have also embarked  on various other green initiatives such as banning single-use plastic items, which include earbuds, plates, glasses and plastic flags, from July 1, 2022. In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had anno-unced India’s pledge to eliminate single-use plastic by 2022.
