India Appoints New Vice President

Indian politician Chandrapuram Ponnusami (CP) Radhakrishnan assumed the role of India’s vice president on September 12, succeeding Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Indian politician Chandrapuram Ponnusami (CP) Radhakrishnan assumed the role of India’s vice president on September 12, succeeding Jagdeep Dhankhar. Radhakrishnan, who secured victory in the vice-presidential elections by 152 votes, is the 15th vice president of India. He served as the governor of Maharashtra from July 31, 2024, before stepping into his new position. During his career in politics, he worked in various capacities, including as the governor of Jharkhand and the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu. While serving in leadership roles, he brought attention to several problems, such as terrorism, and also contributed to improving educational opportunities.
