Indian-origin Engineer Ashok Veeraraghavan Wins 2024 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award in Engineering

A computer engineer and professor of Indian origin named Ashok Veeraraghavan has been awarded the 2024 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award in Engineering for developing an innovative imaging technology that aims to make unapparent things visible.

A computer engineer and professor of Indian origin named Ashok Veeraraghavan has been awarded the 2024 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award in Engineering for developing an innovative imaging technology that aims to make unapparent things visible. The prestigious honour is presented by the Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science and Technology (TAMEST), USA, to recognise the efforts of outstanding researchers in the state of Texas annually. Veeraraghavan was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He acquired his master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Maryland, USA, and is currently a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Rice University in Texas, USA. His imaging technology addresses challenges faced by current technologies and will have applications in photography, healthcare and various other fields.
