13-year-old Iniya Pragati has achieved an incredible milestone by becoming the youngest analogue astronaut from India. She attained this distinction after completing a challenging mission to Earth’s largest uninhabited island, Devon Island in Canada. The island, part of the Canadian Arctic, has features that are similar to those on Mars. Analogue astronauts practise living in environments on Earth that resemble conditions on Mars, the moon and other space locations. Iniya, whose enthusiasm for space began during early childhood, wishes to travel to Mars and the moon. She has been chosen for a training programme by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) next year.
