Sarbananda Sonowal, the minister of ports, shipping and waterways, inaugurated the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT) in April 2025. The facility, located at Ballard Pier, Mumbai, covers 4,15,000 sq ft and was constructed at a cost of ₹556 crore. It includes 72 check-in and immigration counters, commercial areas and a huge parking area. The MICT is the largest international cruise terminal in India, capable of accommodating five ships at a time. It is also equipped with 10 escalators and 22 elevators and can accommodate 10,000 passengers each day. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to elevate tourism in the region.
