18-year-old Jaylen Smith, who was elected as the mayor of a city called Earle in Arkansas in December 2022, is the youngest mayor in the history of the United States of America (USA). He defeated his opponent by 142 votes. Smith, who is an Earle High School graduate, is also the youngest member of the African American Mayors Association. He is currently a student at Arkansas State University, USA. In his role as mayor, he plans to create job opportunities in the city, improve public safety and transportation and build grocery stores.
