King Charles III Takes the Throne

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, Prince Charles acceded to the throne and will now be known as the king of the United Kingdom and the head of the Commonwealth.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, Prince Charles acceded to the throne and will now be known as the king of the United Kingdom and the head of the Commonwealth. At the age of 73, he is the oldest person to assume the throne in British history. King Charles III was formally proclaimed monarch at the Accession Council Ceremony at St James’s Palace in London, UK, on September 10.
