Five-year-old Aarini Lahoty has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming India’s youngest person to secure International Chess Federation (FIDE) ratings across the rapid, classical and blitz formats of chess. She is also the youngest female chess player to achieve this feat globally. Aarini, who learnt chess from her father, has secured ratings of 1550, 1553 and 1498 in the rapid, classical and blitz chess formats, respectively. Her interest in the game developed at the age of two and was encouraged by her father. The Delhi-based prodigy has participated in several tournaments.
