Technology company Meta is in the process of creating a wristband capable of helping users operate devices, including computers, without any physical motion. The device, resembling a smartwatch, was tested on many volunteers.
With the help of surface electromyography (sEMG), the wristband tracks the muscles’ electric signals, enabling the wearer to carry out tasks by merely thinking about them.
This technology recognises the wearer’s intent to carry out a task, such as starting an application on a device, and responds accordingly.
According to researchers, it could help individuals suffering from paralysis or other disabilities to operate devices.
