To study Iceland’s topography, a team of scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) recently travelled to the region for a two-week campaign. The goal of the campaign was to study the conditions in Iceland, which resemble Venus’ surface, ahead of NASA’s Venus Emissivity, Radio science, InSAR, Topography and Spectroscopy (VERITAS) mission. Through the VERITAS mission, which is set to launch within a decade, NASA will explore Venus’ surface from orbit. This will enhance scientists’ understanding of the evolution of rocky planets and the possibility of habitation.

Did You Know?
