New Police Commissioner Appointed for Mumbai

An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1994 batch named Deven Bharti has been appointed as Mumbai’s new police commissioner by the Maharashtra government.

An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1994 batch named Deven Bharti has been appointed as Mumbai’s new police commissioner by the Maharashtra government. Bharti will replace Vivek Phansalkar who served in the role previously. His new role carries the responsibility of ensuring law and order in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Bharti has previously served in several key roles including as the head of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Mumbai’s joint commissioner of police (law and order). He has also worked on several critical cases, including the terror attacks in Mumbai on November 26, 2008.
