Technology company Samsung has decided to adopt a new sustainability technique for its future products. The company will start making its Galaxy S22 series with a special kind of repurposed plastic. It will be made from fishing nets that are discarded in the oceans. Samsung wants to address the hidden but potent threat posed by the 6,40,000 tonnes of fishing nets that are discarded every year in the ocean. The discarded nets impact the natural habitats of marine life. They also destroy coral reefs at an alarming rate.

Did You Know?
Since the 1960s, fishing nets have been made of nylon threads.
