- In the Wimbledon tennis tournament this year, Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina won the men’s and women’s singles trophies, respectively. Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell won the men’s doubles competition, while Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles championship. Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk were winners of the mixed doubles competition.
- Apart from the players, Rufus the Harris’s hawk received a lot of attention too. He helped scare pigeons away from the venue during the tennis tournament.
- Pigeons often interrupt games and their droppings dirty the grounds. Rufus, who has been trained since he was a few weeks old, has completed 15 years patrolling the courts and preventing pigeons from roosting on the grounds.
- He used to be released onto the courts by his owners early every morning before the games started and worked from June 27 to July 10.
