Captain Shiva Chauhan created history by becoming the first female officer of the Indian Army to get operationally deployed at Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world. Chauhan is deployed at the Kumar Post, which is situated at an altitude of around 15,600ft. Chauhan, who completed her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the NJR Institute of Technology in Udaipur, trained rigorously at the Siachen Battle School before being posted at Siachen. Chauhan will be in charge of leading a team of Sappers that will undertake several combat engineering tasks.
