He is the first person of Indian origin to hold this position. Mukkamala is the son of immigrant parents and currently lives in Michigan, USA. He is an alumnus of the University of Michigan, USA, and has extensive experience in organised medicine. In his esteemed new post, he plans to work towards making healthcare affordable and enhancing medical research.
