Indian-origin Doctor Appointed as President of American Medical Association

Srinivas Mukkamala, an otolaryngologist of Indian origin, has been appointed as the president of the American Medical Association (AMA), an organisation that unites medical students and physicians and works to improve public health.

Srinivas Mukkamala, an otolaryngologist of  Indian origin, has been appointed as the president of the American Medical Association (AMA), an organisation that unites medical students and physicians and works to improve public health. He is the first person of Indian origin to hold this position. Mukkamala is the son of immigrant parents and currently lives in Michigan, USA. He is an alumnus of the University of Michigan, USA, and has extensive experience in organised medicine. In his esteemed new post, he plans to work towards making healthcare affordable and enhancing medical research.
