Manpreet Monica Singh created history by becoming the first female Sikh judge in the USA. She was sworn in as a Harris County Civil Court judge on January 6. Singh was born in Houston and currently lives in Bellaire, Texas. Singh studied at the University of Texas at Austin and attended the South Texas College of Law. She has 20 years of experience as an attorney—she has handled more than 100 cases and has been the recipient of various awards including the Distinguished Member Award from the South Asian Bar Association in the year 2017. She has also worked with multiple civil rights organisations.
