Indian-origin Teacher Wins Australian Prize

Veena Nair, a teacher of Indian origin who is currently based in Melbourne, Australia, was honoured with Australia’s 2022 Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in secondary schools.

Veena Nair, a teacher of Indian origin who is currently based in Melbourne, Australia, was honoured with Australia’s 2022 Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in secondary schools. Nair started her career in Mumbai and has over 20 years of teaching experience, having taught in schools across UAE, Australia and India. Nair specialises in teaching STEAM– science, technology, engineering, art and maths–and was honoured with the award for showing children how they could apply STEAM practically and use their creativity, innovation and skills to influence the world. Nair is currently the STEAM project leader and the head of technology at Viewbank College in Australia.
