Time seems to falter
As I summon enough breath
And plunge into the depths
Of welcoming waters:
A different dimension
Nature’s best creation
Off hypnotising hues
And colourful corals
And dancing dolphins
Alluring anemones
And tantalising tides
A true wonderland of water
As bubbles reach the surface
And stop
To pop
In the glimmering sunlight
I know I can’t stay here
Forever
For I am a scuba diver
Reluctantly
I reach for the surface
But I know
The secret of the deep
Is mine to keep
As I climb onto land
I touch the warm sand
And whisper to the beckoning tides
“I will be back”.
