To enable students to learn civics practically, the Centre has decided to introduce an initiative called Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS) in schools throughout India. This initiative involves students from classes 9 to 12 engaging in mock Gram Sabha simulations in classrooms. This initiative follows the structure of Model United Nations activities and allows students to portray the village secretary, sarpanch and other figures involved in Gram Sabha meetings. It seeks to enhance students’ understanding of village administration. The initial phase of the initiative involves its launch in around 1,100 schools, including Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).
