April 01, 2024

To encourage a work-life balance among Australian citizens, Australia has introduced the ‘Right to Disconnect’, which allows Australian employees to ignore unreasonable calls, e-mails and messages from their employers beyond their work hours. A new development under the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No 2) Bill 2023, this right protects employees and prevents them from being penalised for not engaging in communication with their employers after work. The law aims to reduce stress, prevent burnout among employees and protect mental health.
