Jamila Afghani, an activist for women’s rights and education in Afghanistan, was recently named as one of the 2022 Aurora Humanitarians. She is the president of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), Afghanistan. WILPF is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that focuses on ensuring Afghan women and girls get their rights and deals in migration-related issues. Afghani has founded many organisations including the Noor Educational and Capacity Development Organization and has initiated several projects for the empowerment of women and children.
