Queen Elizabeth II of Britain celebrated her 96th birthday on April 21. She also completed 70 years on the throne this year. She is not only Britain’s longest-serving monarch, but also the oldest reigning female monarch in world history. She ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, upon the death of her father, King George VI. Queen Elizabeth II celebrates two birthdays every year—her actual birthday on April 21 and her official birthday, usually celebrated on the second Saturday in June. Toymaker Mattel honoured and celebrated the British monarch by creating a Queen Elizabeth II Barbie doll.
