To be an astronomer one must complete:
- Class 12 in science.
- 3-year bachelor’s degree in physics with a specialisation in astronomy and astrophysics (BSc in physics).
- 2-year master’s degree in astronomy or physics with a specialisation in astronomy and astrophysics (MSc in astronomy or MSc in physics).
- PhD in astronomy and astrophysics.
Career Options: An astronomer can work in a government organisation, astronomical observatory, research company or university.
Job Roles: Observational astronomer, theoretical astronomer, space scientist, research astrophysicist, scientific assistant and professor.
