Instant Suji Chilla

Try this instant chilla recipe by FOODIES FOOD COURT to quell anytime hunger pangs. Also great for a quick and easy breakfast or snackbox filler.


  • 1 cup semolina (suji or rawa)
  •  ½ cup curd
  • ½ cup water
  •  Oil for cooking

For the Batter:

  •  1 onion, chopped
  • 1 capsicum, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, chopped
  • 4 to 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • Salt as per taste
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon black
  • pepper powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • 3 tablespoons water


  • In a bowl, mix the semolina, curd and water to get a runny mixture.
  • Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • For the batter, in another bowl add the onion, capsicum, tomato, ginger, garlic, green chilli, salt, cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, garam masala and water.
  • Mix both and adjust the consistency.
  • Heat a pan and add some oil. When it is hot, add 2 spoonsful of the mixture and cook for 2 minutes on each side on a medium flame.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or sauce and enjoy.
